Life Transitions

life transitions

Successfully navigating through life requires a commitment to your personal growth and the courage continually to incorporate new perspectives. This ability is most needed during times of transition when ambivalent feelings abound and you are left feeling excited one moment and overwhelmed the next.

Creativity has a major role in successful problem-solving at this time. Now you must examine the possibilities, project the implications for your life and ultimately attempt to determine the most meaningful and beneficial direction to move toward. It requires taking the presenting issue, turning it upside down and placing it on its side. Sound interesting, daunting, exciting? It can be and often is each of these and more!

Together within the therapeutic relationship we will identify your options, explore your dilemmas and challenges, and assess the choices for optimal resolution. The primary focus of my work is to help you discover your strengths, identify your relative weaknesses and learn how to solve your own problems. This is achieved through emotional relearning and the establishment of new ways of thinking, feeling and behaving. It is a way of processing life in a healthier way. Setting goals based on these strengths will help you to make permanent the changes you want in your life, to eliminate the old patterns of behavior, and to feel more optimistic about the future and more successful.

Have you wondered how others have managed to realize their goals and dreams? Have you wanted to transition yourself into a/an:

  • Confident, grounded adult after the death of a partner?
  • Successful adult relationship?
  • New career?
  • Entrepreneurial business?
  • Fiscal/budgetary responsibility?
  • Physical/dietary healthy lifestyle?
  • Effective communication with your needs met and others needs heard?
  • Connected, meaningful adult relationships?

If you have answered “Yes” to any of the above questions you can benefit from exploring your thoughts and feelings with a professionally trained third party. I am particularly effective helping people resolve their resistances to success in their adult relationships, as well as in their careers. Often the process of transition is complicated by trauma and abuse on many levels. This does not have to be an obstacle.

With a background in business, as well as academia, I am successful working with the stresses experienced in the corporate, medical, health, and academic sectors, as well as their physical, emotional, and interpersonal correlates.

Transitions are opportunities for growth and renewal, despite the challenges involved and the emotions that often overwhelm you. Take advantage of this opportunity even if it feels like an insurmountable obstacle. While you may see no light at the end of the tunnel, I will keep my sights on it for the two of us until you can see it for yourself!

I am a Manhasset therapist, call me at (516) 627-1145 for a complimentary consultation to discuss any of these or related topics.
